Left in the Wild and Barely Breathing — How Roman Survived the Cold and Found a Second Chance

A Discovery That Broke Our Hearts

When we first saw Roman, he was lying alone in the wild.

Abandoned and gravely injured, he had reportedly been attacked by wild animals. A landfill worker spotted him just in time and rushed to get help.

By the time Roman reached us, he was still bleeding.

His small body was cold to the touch. His breathing was faint. Every second felt critical.

We wrapped him in dry towels and tried to warm him immediately. His body temperature was dropping fast, and hypothermia was a real concern.

For 30 long minutes, there was little change.

So we placed him gently beside a heater, watching and waiting.

And then… he opened his eyes.

It was the smallest movement, but it meant everything.

A Fight for Stability

The next day, the bleeding had finally stopped. We took Roman for X-rays, praying there were no life-threatening injuries.

The imaging brought a small relief — no head trauma.

But blood tests revealed something serious: his blood sugar levels were extremely low. He needed close monitoring inside a specialized warming box for the next 48 hours.

Those hours felt endless.

We watched his breathing.
We checked his response.
We whispered encouragement.

Slowly, he stabilized.

This was the turning point that gave us hope.

Gradual Improvements

After 48 hours, Roman was moved into an intensive care room with more space and fresh air circulation. He was still weak and required ongoing injections and medication, but the immediate danger had passed.

For the first time, we allowed ourselves to breathe.

Day by day, his strength returned.

He began lifting his head.
He started responding to touch.
And eventually, he even tried to play.

Roman’s gentle personality began to shine through. Despite everything he endured, he remained kind and trusting.

We promised him one thing:

His life would be different from now on.

Another Life in Need

On our way home after rescuing Roman, we encountered another pup in similar condition.

Freezing. Barely breathing. Injured.

We named him Rob.

Though he had visible wounds, Rob was slightly stronger and responded quickly to treatment. His recovery has been steady and encouraging.

But the story didn’t end there.

Six More Lives in the Cold

That same night, we returned to the area to search for more animals.

In the darkness, we found six additional puppies.

No shelter.
No food.
Exposed to freezing temperatures and potential danger.

At first, they ran from us, frightened. It took patience and food to slowly gain their trust. After careful effort, we were able to bring them all to safety.

One of the pups was extremely weak. I held him close to keep him warm as we transported them.

He is now under treatment and needs continued support.

A Commitment to Keep Going

There are still countless animals out there facing similar conditions.

The reality is overwhelming.

We cannot take them all at once. Resources are limited. Space is limited. But our determination is not.

We will return with food.
We will return with care.
We will continue to fight for them.

Roman’s story reminds us how fragile life can be — and how powerful timely compassion truly is.

From barely breathing beside a heater…
To lifting his head and playing again…

His survival is a testament to resilience and unwavering care.

Every small life matters.

And as long as there are animals in need, we will keep trying — no matter how hard it gets.
