A Stray Dog Living in a Scrap Yard
Jang-soon was a stray dog who had been surviving alone in a construction site and scrap yard area. His condition made it clear that life had not been kind to him.
His body showed signs of hardship—patches of irritated skin and visible sores. But the most serious problem was his back leg.
One of Jang-soon’s hind legs was badly injured. It was swollen, twisted, and clearly deformed, making every step difficult and painful. Despite the injury, he continued wandering the area, doing his best to survive.

The Kind Grandmother Who Never Gave Up on Him
For four years, a kind elderly woman living nearby quietly cared for Jang-soon.
She named him Jang-soon, because he reminded her of a beloved dog she once had who had passed away.
Although the stray dog remained extremely shy and would not allow anyone to touch him, the grandmother patiently fed him every day. She even prepared special meals for him.
Sometimes she grilled samgyeopsal (Korean pork belly) and hid medicine inside the meat so Jang-soon could receive treatment without realizing it. Through this simple but thoughtful act, she tried to help ease his pain and treat his skin condition.
Her quiet kindness kept the dog going for years.
Rescuers Step In
Eventually, the situation caught the attention of the rescue team from Kritter Klub.
When they arrived at the site, they carefully observed Jang-soon from a distance. Because he was so frightened of humans, approaching him directly wasn’t possible.

To ensure his safety, the rescue team decided to capture him gently using a large net so they could bring him to a veterinary hospital for treatment.
Before taking him away, there was an emotional moment between the grandmother and the dog she had cared for so long.
She stood nearby, watching with teary eyes. While she felt relief that Jang-soon would finally receive proper medical care, she was also worried and sad to see him leave.
A Serious Medical Diagnosis
At the veterinary clinic, doctors performed a thorough examination and took X-rays of Jang-soon’s injured leg.
The results revealed the heartbreaking truth.
The bones in his hind leg had been shattered for a long time, possibly due to an accident or trauma. Because the injury had never been treated properly, severe infection had developed and some of the tissue had begun to deteriorate.
The veterinarians determined that surgery was necessary.
During the procedure, they removed the severely damaged bone and treated the infections affecting his body.

A New Chance at Life
After the surgery, Jang-soon began the slow process of recovery.
Although he had lost part of his leg, something important had changed—he was finally free from the constant pain he had endured for so many years.
For the first time, he could rest, heal, and experience professional medical care.
Little by little, Jang-soon also began to soften toward people. The dog who once avoided human contact started showing signs of trust.
His journey was far from over, but the hardest part—the years of untreated suffering—was finally behind him.
Jang-soon’s story is a reminder that even animals who have struggled for years can still find comfort, healing, and hope when compassion steps in. 🐾
