A Tragic Discovery

The rescue began with a heartbreaking video.

No one knew exactly how the dogs ended up in such terrible condition. Perhaps someone had abandoned them, or maybe they had been left there without care for a long time.

As soon as the rescuers saw the footage, they rushed to the location.

When they arrived, the first dog was already extremely weak. His body was exhausted and he could barely move. He was unable to stand properly, and even when water was offered, he was too weak to drink.

The rescuers did everything they could—giving injections and emergency support—but sadly, it was already too late.

The little dog passed away shortly after.

Another Puppy Still Waiting

Later that same night, the team returned to the place where the first dog had been found.

There, they discovered another puppy.

She was lying on the ground, crying softly as if calling for her mother. It seemed very likely that the two puppies had been abandoned together.

This second puppy was also extremely weak.

The rescuer rushed the puppy to the nearest veterinary clinic. Unfortunately, her condition was so fragile that she required more advanced treatment.

Without delay, she was transferred to a larger animal hospital in the city.

Despite her weakness, the rescuers held onto hope.

“Let’s fight, little girl,” they encouraged her. “You can make it.”

The First Signs of Hope

By the following day, there were small but meaningful improvements.

Although still critically weak, the puppy managed to stand for a moment and looked at her rescuer with a hopeful expression.

It was a quiet but powerful sign that she was trying to survive.

A health check showed slight progress. Her condition was still serious, but things were moving in the right direction.

At that moment, the rescuers gave her a name:

Beginning the Journey to Recovery

Leilani remained shy and frightened. Much of the time she simply wanted to lie down and rest.

But there were encouraging signs. Her gums began returning to a healthier color, showing that her circulation was improving.

Once she stabilized enough, the rescuer brought Leilani back to the shelter.

At the shelter, it took a little time for her to get used to her new bed and surroundings.

She was still very thin and needed to gain weight, and she also had parasites that required treatment. But now she would receive the medical care, food, and warmth she had been missing.
