The story began in Afan village, where a heartbreaking incident unfolded.
A young girl had recently been bitten by a dog. According to local residents, the dog involved had never been aggressive before—children often played with it. But one day, when a girl suddenly hugged the animal, it reacted defensively and bit her.
The situation was unfortunate and painful for everyone involved.
But what happened next was far worse.
The girl’s father, reportedly drunk at the time, decided to “teach the dogs a lesson.” Instead of addressing the situation calmly or helping his child understand how to approach animals safely, he took out his anger on a completely innocent dog.
The dog he targeted was not even the one involved in the bite.
It was an old stray dog—about ten years old, gentle and nearly toothless.
Yet the man drove his car toward the helpless animal.
Violence in Front of Everyone
Witnesses said the man deliberately drove over the dog.
Then he turned the car around and did it again.
The attack happened in front of local residents—and even worse, in front of children. The children began screaming and crying as they watched the horrifying scene unfold.
One woman tried to intervene, but the driver nearly ran her over as well, shouting and threatening anyone who tried to stop him.
After the attack, the man simply drove away and continued drinking, leaving the injured dog behind.

His pelvis was shattered.
The Rescue Begins
Rescuers soon arrived and found the dog in terrible condition.
He was covered with fleas and parasites, likely from years of living on the streets. His body was weak, itchy, and exhausted from a life of hardship.
X-rays revealed severe injuries:
His pelvis was broken in several places, and his lower back was heavily infected with parasites.
Despite the pain, the dog remained gentle and calm.
He simply lay there quietly, unable to even urinate due to his injuries.
The veterinary team moved him into surgery immediately.
To help him relieve the pressure in his bladder, doctors had to manually extract urine—an uncomfortable but necessary procedure.
The rescuers gave the dog a new name:
Korablik.
Three Surgeries and a Long Recovery
Korablik underwent three complex surgeries in a single day.
Throughout the procedures, he behaved quietly but remained frightened. Often he would hide his head or cover it with his front paws, as if trying to disappear.
The trauma had clearly shaken him deeply.
After surgery, the team gave him medication mixed with soft pâté, which he accepted gently.
But emotionally, he still struggled.
Korablik often crawled into corners and tried to hide.
The rescuers knew that healing his body would be easier than healing his broken trust in humans.
So they spent time simply talking to him softly, letting him slowly feel that he was safe.
Small Steps Toward Healing
Gradually, Korablik began to improve.
One day he started eating calmly on his own—a small but meaningful victory.
Soon after, he was able to take a few careful steps. Though walking was still uncomfortable, the improvement was encouraging.
When a nurse approached him, Korablik even wagged his tail slightly in greeting.
With each passing day, his strength returned.
His appetite improved, and he gained 2.8 kilograms, showing that his body was recovering.
A Life Finally Filled with Peace
Today, Korablik is a completely different dog.
He walks around the garden at the rescue center, enjoying the sunshine and fresh air. The once-frightened dog now explores his surroundings with curiosity.
He has even made a gentle friend—a cat named Bela.
Together they share peaceful moments in the garden.
The sadness that once filled Korablik’s eyes has slowly faded.
Now, a quiet smile seems to return to his face each day.
After surviving cruelty and pain, Korablik’s life has finally changed.
