A Lonely Shelter Beneath the Road

The story began with a quiet discovery along the side of a road.

Inside a narrow drainage pipe, tucked deep in the shadows, an old dog had been living unnoticed. His body was curled tightly in the darkness, as if the small concrete tunnel had become the only place left where he felt safe.
