When rescuers first saw him, they could hardly believe he was a real dog.
He was unbelievably small.
So small, in fact, that his fragile body and strange appearance reminded everyone of a tiny dinosaur.
That’s how he got the name Dino.
But beneath the unusual appearance was something heartbreaking:
a frightened little dog barely surviving on his own.
The rescue team from Hope For Paws had received a message about a tiny stray hiding in someone’s backyard.
When they arrived, they found Dino curled up quietly, trying to make himself invisible.

His body was painfully thin.
His skin looked irritated and damaged.
And most of his fur was gone.
He looked exhausted.
Every movement seemed cautious, as if he had spent a very long time learning to fear the world around him.
A Rescue Built on Patience
Dino was extremely shy.
The moment rescuers approached, he froze with uncertainty.
So Loreta Frankonyte carefully lowered herself onto the ground instead of standing over him, trying to appear less frightening.
Then she gently offered food.
Slowly…
very slowly…
the tiny dog began inching closer.
Even then, rescuers were careful while touching him because they feared he might have mange or another serious skin condition.
But Dino was simply too tired to run.
Within moments, Loreta carefully lifted him into her arms.
For the first time in a long time, the tiny dog was finally safe.

The Truth About Dino’s Condition
Dino was rushed to CARES veterinary hospital where doctors quickly realized just how serious his condition was.
He was suffering from severe malnutrition.
His tiny body had almost no strength left.
Tests also confirmed he had Demodex mange, a painful skin disease that caused heavy fur loss and irritated skin.
And that wasn’t all.
Dino’s dental condition was also severe.
His teeth had grown abnormally crowded inside his small mouth, causing constant discomfort.
Despite everything he had endured, Dino remained gentle.
The veterinary team immediately began treatment.
He received medicated baths to help heal his skin.
Nutritious food to slowly rebuild his strength.
And most importantly…
rest.
For the first time in what was likely a very long time, Dino could finally sleep somewhere safe and warm.
The Tiny Dog Who Slowly Learned Joy Again
After his initial treatment, Dino moved into a foster home through Balooja’s Foundation where his real healing journey began.
Day by day, small changes appeared.

He started eating eagerly.
His body grew stronger.
And little by little, his personality emerged.
The frightened dog who once hid from people began seeking affection instead.
His tail wagged more often.
His eyes became brighter.
And the sadness slowly disappeared from his face.
Then, over the next two months, something incredible happened.
Dino transformed completely.
A Life Nobody Could Have Imagined
The tiny dog who once looked sick, fragile, and almost hairless now had a soft, healthy coat.
His energy exploded.
He became playful, mischievous, and full of life.
He chased toys around the house.
Curled up beside his humans.
And formed an unlikely friendship with a Great Dane nearly ten times his size.
Watching them together made Dino look even smaller—but also happier than anyone could have imagined during those first rescue moments.
Today, Dino no longer hides in fear.
He no longer suffers alone in silence.
And he no longer looks like the weak little stray rescuers first discovered trembling in a backyard.
Now he runs through his home with confidence, surrounded by love, comfort, and people who adore him exactly as he is.
Dino’s journey is a reminder that some of the smallest lives carry the biggest fighting spirit.
Because even when he was sick, starving, and terrified…
that tiny little dog never stopped holding on.
And thanks to a few people who refused to walk away, Dino finally got the life every dog deserves:
One filled with safety, happiness, and love.
