A Stray With a Painful Secret
Bubbles, a five-year-old Neapolitan Mastiff mix, was found wandering the streets with something impossible to ignore.
A massive tumor had grown on the left side of his face.
It sat on his cheekbone, so large that it pushed his left eye out of position. The swollen mass was inflamed, filled with blood, and clearly painful. Yet despite the weight and discomfort, Bubbles remained calm and gentle.
In fact, rescuers noticed something heartbreaking.

When he tried to sleep, he used the tumor itself like a pillow to rest his head.
At the shelter and emergency veterinary hospital, doctors delivered difficult news. The tumor might already have spread to his lungs. Surgery would be extremely risky due to the possibility of severe bleeding.
But everyone agreed on one thing.
Bubbles deserved a chance.
The surgery was scheduled.
And the entire team hoped for the best.
A Surgery That Changed Everything
On day six, Bubbles underwent a long and delicate operation.
Surgeons removed nearly the entire tumor and reconstructed parts of his face. After the procedure, he was placed in the intensive care unit for close monitoring.
Those first days were critical.

But Bubbles proved stronger than anyone expected.
By day ten, he had begun gaining weight. He could eat normally again, happily finishing meals from his bowl. The swelling gradually subsided, and his energy returned.
By days sixteen and twenty, he was already walking outside, wagging his tail and greeting everyone with affection.
There was a brief setback when an infection appeared, but the veterinary team quickly found the right antibiotics. Soon, Bubbles looked healthier and brighter with each passing day.
A New Family Waiting
By day twenty-seven, Bubbles had gained around 14 pounds (about 6.3 kilograms).
The stitches around his eye were removed, though the eye itself could no longer see. But that didn’t slow him down.
Even better news arrived.
A loving family in North Carolina had been following his journey and decided they wanted to give Bubbles a home.
For the first time in a long time, his future looked stable and full of love.
Another Battle Against Cancer
However, the journey wasn’t completely over.

Around day sixty, a small new tumor appeared near the cheekbone, and the tumors in his lungs began growing faster than expected. Blood tests showed the disease had not spread throughout his system yet, but action was needed quickly.
Bubbles began a special treatment called Samarium therapy—a targeted radiation-based treatment designed to destroy the cancer cells.
It was his best chance.
And once again, Bubbles faced the challenge with quiet courage.
A Life Full of Friendship and Joy
By days 110 to 130, the transformation was remarkable.
The infections were gone. The antibiotic treatments were complete. Bubbles took his medications calmly and continued gaining strength.
But perhaps the most beautiful part of his story was waiting at home.
Bubbles had made a best friend.
Another dog named Gus—who happens to be blind.
The two are inseparable. They sleep together, play together, and move through the house side by side, offering each other constant companionship.

The dog who once carried a massive tumor on his face now lives surrounded by love, safety, and friendship.
His story reminds us that miracles don’t always arrive suddenly.
Sometimes they come step by step, through surgeries, treatments, patience, and people who refuse to give up.
The world once believed Bubbles might not have a future.
But today, he’s living proof that hope can grow even in the most unlikely places.
