A Curious Dog Gets Stuck
The story begins in a backyard in Salmon Creek, where a curious dog named Skya found herself in an unexpected situation.
While exploring the yard, Skya pushed her head through the opening of a cinder block. What may have started as simple curiosity quickly turned into a problem—once her head was inside, she couldn’t pull it back out.

Despite her efforts, the block held firm, leaving Skya stuck and unable to free herself.
An Hour of Waiting for Help
Skya remained trapped for more than an hour.
Her owners tried to help but realized the situation required professional assistance to avoid injuring their pet. Concerned for Skya’s safety, they contacted the local fire department for help.
Soon, firefighters arrived to assess the situation.
A Team Effort to Free Skya
The rescue turned into a coordinated effort involving three fire departments: Clark County, Hazel Dell, and Salmon Creek.

The firefighters worked carefully to ensure Skya would not be harmed during the rescue. Instead of breaking the block immediately, they first applied lubricants around her neck and head to reduce friction.
Using patience, careful positioning, and professional rescue techniques, they gradually guided Skya’s head back through the narrow opening.
Finally, after careful maneuvering, Skya was safely freed.
A Happy Ending
Once released, Skya was checked to make sure she was unharmed. Fortunately, she had no injuries and quickly returned to her playful self.
To celebrate the successful rescue, Skya even posed for photos with the firefighters who helped save the day.

What began as a small accident ended with smiles, relief, and a reminder that sometimes curiosity leads to unexpected adventures—but with a little help, everything can turn out just fine. 🐾
