A Dangerous Edge, With No Way Back
It happened near a high stone wall, right beside deep water.
Three small puppies struggled at the edge—tiny bodies pressed against the cold surface, paws slipping, unable to climb up. The water below moved quietly… but close enough to take them at any moment.
They had nowhere to go.
Only the narrow space beneath them… and the risk just below.

A Rescue That Couldn’t Wait
A woman and her friend saw them—and immediately called for help.
Nearby, a man on a small inflatable boat moved closer. He didn’t rush blindly. Instead, he extended a long net, carefully reaching toward the puppies.
One by one, he tried to lift them.
The first—safe.
The second—pulled up just in time.
But the third…
Was carried away by the current.
There was no time to stop.
Only to hold on to the two that remained.
A Fight to Bring Back a Breath
One of the rescued puppies—a small black one—was completely still.
His body was cold.
His chest unmoving.
For a moment, everything felt uncertain.

But the people there didn’t give up.
They worked quickly, gently helping him breathe again—clearing his airway, keeping him warm, doing everything they could to bring him back.
And slowly…
Something changed.
A faint response.
A small return.
Enough to keep going.
A Place Where Healing Could Begin
At the veterinary clinic, both puppies were placed in a warm, protected space.
The cold was gone.
The danger was behind them.
With careful attention and time, their bodies began to recover.
The black puppy—now called Xiao Hei—responded little by little. The other, Xiao Hua, stayed close, as if they had already formed a quiet bond.
They had made it through the hardest part.
Now, they just needed time.
Learning What Safety Feels Like
Back home, everything was new.

Warm milk, given slowly.
Soft bedding.
A quiet space where nothing unexpected happened.
At first, Xiao Hei was weaker—still catching up, still finding his strength. But with each passing day, both puppies began to change.
They ate on their own.
They played with small toys.
They stayed close, no longer afraid.
A Home That Grew With Them
Noticing their needs, their caregiver made their space better.
A small wooden house replaced the old enclosure—larger, warmer, filled with soft blankets, gentle light, and simple comforts.
The puppies explored it carefully at first.
Then fully.
As if they understood—they were meant to stay.
Three Months Later… A Different Story
Time passed quietly.
At three months old, they were taken for check-ups—healthy, growing, full of life.
Xiao Hua had become lively and strong, his coat soft and bright. Xiao Hei, once so still and fragile, had recovered beautifully—moving freely, keeping pace, carrying only the faintest reminder of what he had been through.

They were no longer the puppies at the edge of the water.
They were something else entirely.
A Story That Holds Both Loss and Hope
Not every life was saved that day.
But two were.
And because someone stopped… reached out… and refused to give up—those two lives continued forward.
Stronger.
Safer.
And quietly full of everything they almost lost.
Sometimes, that’s what hope looks like—
Not perfect.
But real.
And enough to carry on.
