A few weeks ago, my sweet boy celebrated his 19th birthday. It’s hard to believe how quickly time has passed, but every moment has been filled with love and memories. Now, as he’s gotten older, his world has shifted. His eyes no longer see the way they once did, and his ears only catch fragments of the sounds around him. Yet, in a way that only a dog can, his tail still tells the story of his boundless joy. It wags with the same enthusiasm as if he were a young pup, happy and carefree, as if the passage of time hasn’t taken anything away from him.

Some days are easier than others. Doggy dementia quietly creeps in, with moments of confusion and times of calm. But through it all, his spirit remains strong, unwavering. It’s a beautiful thing to witness. Every morning, without fail, he greets the day with the same joyful energy, the same gentle love he’s always carried with him. That’s the one thing that hasn’t changed—his heart still beats with the same warmth and kindness it always has.

Just recently, we returned from his checkup, and the vet smiled, saying, “He’s completely healthy.” A small miracle, one that fills me with gratitude every day. To have him by my side for so long, and to hear that he’s still in good health, is a gift I never take for granted. Every little moment is precious.
